We Remember: Robin Williams (1951-2014)

Today marks a tragic anniversary – precisely seven years ago; the beloved Robin Williams passed away at only 63 years old. Fans young and old were left reeling, especially when it came to light that he had taken his own life.

While the circumstances surrounding his death are indeed tragic, here on We Remember, we choose to focus on the positive, and with Williams, there was a WHOLE LOT of wonderful things about him to remember. No one could ever deny that Williams made the world a better place thanks to his incredible run of films through the ’80s, ’90s, and 2000s. He delighted in making people laugh, and we delighted in letting him.

Williams began as a stand-up comic before breaking into the mainstream as a wacky alien on Mort & Mindy. He made a few missteps on the way to big-screen stardom, with Robert Altman’s Popeye laying an egg at the box office, but he bounced back with the touching The World According to Garp. After that, his career became red-hot with the classic Good Morning Vietnam, followed by Peter Weir’s masterful Dead Poets Society. And then there was The Fisher King, Aladdin, Mrs. Doubtfire, What Dreams May Come, Good Will Hunting, and many more.

So join us as we pay tribute to one of the brightest, most beloved stars ever to grace the silver screen. Ladies and gentlemen, on the anniversary of his death, WE REMEMBER ROBIN WILLIAMS.
