Ron Perlman and Christopher Plummer join animated H. P. Lovecraft movie

Shout! Factory is moving forward on their animated film set to bring the life and works of H. P. Lovecraft to a new generation, HOWARD LOVECRAFT AND THE FROZEN KINGDOM. This massively intriguing flick has just gained a massively intriguing cast. Christopher Plummer will be playing Lovecraft himself while fan favorite Ron Perlman will be giving voice to Shoggoth, a monster from the Cthulu mythos.

Perlman is probably best known for his roll as Hellboy, but he has appeared in countless films, including DRIVE, PACIFIC RIM, and the upcoming FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM. Christopher Plummer has had an even longer career, appearing in such decade-spanning classics as THE SOUND OF MUSIC, A BEAUTIFUL MIND, UP, and THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO. Both men are old veterans of the screen and are pretty much perfect to lend some much-anticipated gravity to the project.

Based on the graphic novel of the same name, THE FROZEN KINGDOM picks up:

After visiting his father in Arkham Sanitarium, young Howard Lovecraft ignores his father's warning and uses the legendary Necronomicon to open a portal to a strange, frozen world filled with horrifying creatures and grave danger.

The film has been scheduled for release in Fall 2016.
