Rumor: Benicio Del Toro to play a lead villain for The Suicide Squad

If a report by Empire (via Forbes) is to be believed, THE USUAL SUSPECTS and GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY actor Benicio Del Toro could star as one of the lead villains for director James Gunn's THE SUICIDE SQUAD. As your attorney, I advise you to note the word "rumor" used in headline for this article, because that's precisely what this is.

The way Forbes tells it, Gunn is planning to reach back into his star-studded GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY roster to fill some roles for his upcoming Suicide Squad project. Should Del Toro make a deal to star alongside the film's other confirmed castmates (Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, David Dastmalchian, John Cena and Daniela Melchoir), there's a chance that he'll be suiting up as The General, a villain looking to cause trouble for Task Force X. Forbes' report also purported that Idris Elba could be gearing up to star as Bronze Tiger for Gunn's soft-reboot, who acts as a second-in-command to Joel Kinnaman's Rick Flag.

We'll have to wait for Warner's official confirmation on both Del Toro's involvement as well as Elba's suggested role, though that's not going to stop many of us from becoming jazzed about the possibilities. Personally, I've loved Del Toro ever since his Fenster character in Bryan Singer's THE USUAL SUSPECTS mumbled "Give me the keys, you fucking cocksucker, what the fuck?" Then, in 2000, I swooned even harder for the man when he starred as Frankie Four Fingers for Guy Ritchie's crime comedy SNATCH. I can't tell you how many times my friends and I have said "Where is the stone," to one another. In my book, Del Toro is a living legend if there ever was one.

What do you think about the possibility of Del Toro joining the cast of Gunn's THE SUICIDE SQUAD? Let us know in the comments section below.
