Rumor: Janelle Monae is being eyed for the role of Domino in Deadpool 2

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

Update: Moments after the posting of this article, DEADPOOL 2 executive producer Rhett Reese took to his Twitter account to deny any rumors of Janelle Monáe being up for the role of Domino. The search continues!

Do you hear that? That's the sound of the old Hollywood Rumor Mill grinding away with some more speculation about DEADPOOL 2 – the sequel to Marvel's R-rated action-romance masterpiece. Now, it's important to remember that everything I'm about to tell you must be taken with a grain of salt, okay? I'm not looking to be the first victim in a game of Online Telephone, here.

Today, whispers across the net originating from That Hashtag Show are claiming that singer/songwriter and HIDDEN FIGURES actress Janelle Monáe is now the frontrunner to play Neena Thurman AKA Domino opposite Ryan Reynolds' Merc with a Mouth in DEADPOOL 2. For those of you who are not familiar with the character, she is a genetically engineered mutant that was built as part of a United States government program called Project Armageddon. She's sexy, deadly, an absolute laugh riot, and was created to be the perfect weapon. She has a long-standing working relationship with the character Cable, and has also teamed-up with Deadpool for several of the taco-loving mercenary's comic book adventures.

Remember, there's no point in believing this "news" until we get an official confirmation from the powers that be. For now, let's just be excited that Domino is a part of the plan for this upcoming film.

DEADPOOL 2 is expected for a 2018 release.
