Rumor: Warner Bros. wants Paul Greengrass to direct The Stand adaptation

JoBloJoBlo

Scott Cooper left THE STAND adaptation last week, but Warner Bros. is apparently wasting no time looking for his replacement. Badass Digest has heard Paul Greengrass is the studio's top choice to direct their film. The site isn't sure if Warner Bros. and Greengrass have had any formal discussions, but their source says the CAPTAIN PHILLIPS director is at the top of their wish list.

I think Paul Greengrass is an excellent choice, however there are a ton of questions surrounding THE STAND. How many films will it be? What size budget is Warner Bros. considering for the adaptation? We also don't know if Greengrass is even interested in tackling the challenging project, but I am pleased Warner Bros. has been interested in some solid directors for their film. That's got to be a good sign, right?

Adapting THE STAND into a film is by no means an easy task, but maybe Paul Greengrass will be the one who figures out how to make a movie version of the novel work for Warner Bros.
