Thanks to the massive success of Saw X, Lionsgate will officially be moving forward with Saw XI. The studio took to Instagram to reveal that Saw XI will hit theaters on September 27, 2024, almost exactly one year from the release of the latest film.

That’s a quick turnaround to be sure, but the Saw franchise spent the first seven years of its existence releasing a movie every year. Nothing else is known about Saw XI at this time, but we can obviously expect to see Tobin Bell return as Jigsaw.

Before the release of Saw X, franchise producer Mark Burg teased that we could see more actors from previous movies returning for Saw XI. “Saw X ends where I think the audience will want to know what happens, and there’s kind of a cliffhanger ending,” Burg said. “And there’s a great scene at the end of the credits, so we hope people will stick around. There’s a couple of easter eggs, a couple of surprises in this movie. And should this movie work, there are going to be a bunch of actors from the past who have already called wanting to know if they can come and be in the next movie since we’re going back in time.

John Kramer (Tobin Bell) is back. The most chilling installment of the SAW franchise yet explores the untold chapter of Jigsaw’s most personal game,” reads the official Saw X synopsis. “Set between the events of SAW I and II, a sick and desperate John travels to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure in hopes of a miracle cure for his cancer – only to discover the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable. Armed with a newfound purpose, John returns to his work, turning the tables on the con artists in his signature visceral way through a series of ingenious and terrifying traps.

What do you hope to see from Saw XI?
