Pacific Rim 2 Scott Eastwood John Boyega

With PACIFIC RIM 2 finally getting a new release date, there are now rumblings about the first new cast-member to potentially join John Boyega in the upcoming sequel. Deadline is hearing that Legendary Pictures is looking at Scott Eastwood to take on a "key role" in PACIFIC RIM 2. Discussions with Eastwood are still in the very early stages, but if this deal closes, it would be yet another huge blockbuster in Scott Eastwood's future.

Eastwood has been active in Hollywood for over a decade, but it's really only been in the last year or two that his star has started to blow up. With roles in the upcoming SUICIDE SQUAD, SNOWDEN, FAST 8, and LIVE BY NIGHT, Eastwood is on the cusp of becoming a much bigger star. There's no word on what role he would fill in PACIFIC RIM 2, but John Boyega will be playing the son of Idris Elba's Stacker Pentecost. Directed by Steven S. DeKnight (Daredevil) from a script by Derek Connolly (JURASSIC WORLD), production on the Guillermo del Toro produced PACIFIC RIM 2 is expected to get underway late this year.

PACIFIC RIM 2 is set for a February 23, 2017 release.
