Seth Rogen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and 50/50 director reunite for Xmas comedy

Director Jonathan Levine (THE WACKNESS, WARM BODIES) has a new project in the works, and he's bringing two of his 50/50 buddies with him. THR is reporting Levine will direct an untitled Christmas comedy with Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt set to star. Levine also wrote the screenplay, and it's about, "three childhood best friends who reunite in New York City for their annual tradition of going out on Christmas Eve." The third lead role hasn't been cast yet, but Rogen and Gordon-Levitt will play two of the best friends.

Sony has already picked up the film, and production should start sometime this summer. Studios clearly liked the pitch for the planned movie since others (including Paramount and Universal) were competing for it over the weekend, and it could potentially be a big hit at the box office.

Normally, I could care less about a Christmas movie. There are some I do enjoy, but I'm certainly not one of those people who only watch holiday flicks during the month of December with a candy cane stuck up my ass. However, with these two actors and a damn fine director, I definitely have an interest in this Christmas movie.

No word on when Jonathan Levine's new film will hit theaters, but it'll probably be released in December 2015.
