Writer/director Lindsey Beer is currently in post-production on the Pet Sematary prequel she’s making for the Paramount Plus streaming service, and she has already lined up the next genre project she’ll be working on for Paramount. Deadline reports that Beer has signed on to write, direct, and produce a reboot of the classic horror title Sleepy Hollow.
Todd Garner and Spencer Walken of Broken Road Productions will also be producing Beer’s take on Sleepy Hollow. Exactly how she plans to approach the material is being kept under wraps for now. Sleepy Hollow originated with author Washington Irving’s 1820 short story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Set in 1790, Irving’s story has the following description:
Sleepy Hollow is a strange little place…some say bewitched. Some talk of its haunted valleys and streams, the ghostly woman in white, eerie midnight shrieks and howls, but most of all they talk of the Headless Horseman. A huge, shadowy soldier who rides headless through the night, terrifying unlucky travellers.

Irving’s story has had many adaptations and re-interpretations over the years, including the classic Disney animated movie, a recent Fox television series, and Paramount’s 1999 Tim Burton film Sleepy Hollow, which starred Johnny Depp as Ichabod Crane.
In addition to the horror projects she’s making for Paramount, Beer has worked on the screenplays for the next Star Trek film, a remake of Bambi for Disney, and a Hello Kitty movie for New Line Cinema. She is also showrunner and creator of the Netflix series The Magic Order, based on the comics by Mark Millar.
