This is the first I'm hearing of SURVIVE, the upcoming "Quibi Chapter Film" starring the lovely Sophie Turner of GAME OF THRONES. By "chapter film" I mean that this is a part of Quibi's "Movies in Chapters" streaming service that plays out in chapters that run 10 minutes or less. It's an interesting concept and I'm game to see if it works. You can check out the first teaser trailer for SURVIVE up top.
Directed by Mark Pellington (ARLINGTON ROAD), the plot synopsis flies like this: When Jane’s (Sophie Turner) plane crashes on a remote snow-covered mountain, she must pull herself out of the wreckage and fight for her life alongside Paul (Corey Hawkins), the only other remaining survivor. Together they embark on a harrowing journey out of the wilderness, battling brutal conditions and personal traumas in this thrilling drama based on the critically acclaimed novel, SURVIVE, by Alex Morel.
Quibi is the first entertainment platform designed specifically for your phone. It will feature original content from Hollywood’s biggest stars and creators. Quibi – which is short for “quick bites” – is built for easy, on-the-go mobile viewing with new episodes of movie-quality shows delivered daily in 10 minutes or less. The service launches on April 6 of this year.
