Sorority slasher The Row preys upon new trailer, poster & release date

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

I don’t know about you but my favorite subgenre of horror is the slasher flick. And one of my favorite slasher subgenres is the Sorority Slasher. From such classics as THE HOUSE ON SORORITY ROW to its remake SORORITY ROW and even Fox and executive producer Ryan Murphy’s short-lived horror-comedy series SCREAM QUEENS, I love a good sorority-set slasher flick.

And it is with this in mind, I’m personally excited to check out director Matty Beckerman’s upcoming flick called… wait for it… THE ROW. Which I guess isn’t a total rip-off. All the same, the movie promises to have all the terror trappings of a quality slasher so I’m still down for checking it out once it hits select theaters and On Demand on Friday, July 27 from Lionsgate.

If you need a bit more convincing though, today we have the film’s official poster and trailer for your viewing pleasure. You can check out both below and then let us know what you think of the promotional materials thus far.

Lala Kent (VANDERPUMP RULES), Dylan Sprayberry (TEEN WOLF), and Randy Couture (THE EXPENDABLES) star in the slasher which begins:

With a serial killer preying upon girls on campus, Riley (Lala Kent), an incoming freshman, finds herself entangled in a sinister plot involving a dark secret at the sorority that she pledged, while her father, Cole (Randy Couture) – the detective investigating the case – must uncover the identity of the killer before it’s too late…and Riley becomes the next victim.

Another cool aspect to note about this film is that, like SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE, this slasher has a rare distinction of being written by a woman, Sarah Scougal. Here’s hoping this movie rises above a quick cash-grab bargain bin slasher and adds something new to the genre. That or follows its rules to the T and gives us blood & boobs for days. We’ll see this July.

Once again, make sure to take note that the sorority slasher will be hitting select theaters and On Demand from Lionsgate on Friday, July 27th.
