Suki Waterhouse performs a Seance for the writer of You’re Next & The Guest

Suki Waterhouse The Bad Batch

Actress Suki Waterhouse has been involved with several projects that have caught our attention over the last few years – PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES, THE BAD BATCH, ASSASSINATION NATION, FUTURE WORLD, CHARLIE SAYS, BURN, the NEW YEAR, NEW YOU installment of the Into the Dark series. Now she has signed on to star in another film that will be of interest to genre fans.

Waterhouse will be playing the lead role in SEANCE for Dark Castle Entertainment, HanWay Films, Ingenious Media, and director Simon Barrett.

Barrett is another genre regular, best known for writing A HORRIBLE WAY TO DIE, YOU'RE NEXT, THE GUEST, and BLAIR WITCH for director Adam Wingard. Barrett has also written DEAD BIRDS, FRANKENFISH, and RED SANDS, and worked on segments of V/H/S and V/H/S/2. He directed the "Tape 49" segment of V/H/S/2, but SEANCE will be his first full feature.

The story of SEANCE plays out in "an all-girls boarding school haunted by a vengeful spirit." Waterhouse's character is

Camille, a young woman who arrives at the Fairfield Academy following one of the student’s untimely and violent death.

Sounds interesting to me, but Simon Barrett directing Suki Waterhouse in a horror movie is enough to sell me on a project regardless of the plot synopsis.

Dark Castle's Alex Mace is producing the film with Addictive Picture's John Schoenfelder, Russell Ackerman, and Tomas Deckaj. Adam Wingard and Dark Castle CEO Hal Sadoff serve as executive producers.

Sadoff had this to say about the project:

We are thrilled to be working with Simon Barrett and to partner with HanWay and Ingenious on this exciting and clever horror tale. Suki Waterhouse is the perfect actor to bring this scary story to life."

SEANCE is set to begin filming in Canada next month.
