Based upon the novel of the same name by Caleb Carr, TNT's The Alienist centered around Dr. Laslo Kreizler (Daniel Bruhl), a criminal psychologist, aka alienist, who is tasked with investigating a series of gruesome murders of boy prostitutes in New York City. Joining him is newspaper illustrator John Moore (Luke Evans) and Sara Howard (Dakota Fanning), a headstrong secretary at Police Headquarters. The first season of the series was enough of a success that the network ordered a follow-up series – The Alienist: Angel of America, and the first trailer for the new season has now arrived.
The Alienist: Angel of Darkness finds Sara having opened her own private detective agency and leading the charge on a brand-new case. Reuniting with Dr. Kreizler and John Moore, who is now a New York Times reporter, Sara seeks to find Ana Linares, the kidnapped infant daughter of the Spanish Consular. Their investigation leads them down a sinister path of murder and deceit, heading towards a dangerous and elusive killer. The trailer looks pretty damn slick, not to mention expensive, and as a fan of the first season of the series, I'll certainly be back to check out the latest case on display.
The Alienist: Angel of Darkness will debut on TNT on July 26, 2020.
