Robert Pattinson thinks The Batman sequel will probably feature The Court of Owls

The Batman is just now flying into theaters, and Robert Pattinson is already teasing theories about a sequel. During a video feature for Vanity Fair, Pattinson, Paul Dano, Zoë Kravitz, and Jeffrey Wright fielded several fan theories for The Batman. While the group was careful about avoiding spoilers for the new film, one question did have Pattinson hinting about where a sequel to the new film could take us.

At one point in the video, Wright reads an observation from ImDOGGFATHER to the group: I think Thomas and Martha were the leaders of the Court of Owls.

This immediately caught Dano’s attention, who said “Bro, you’ve got to go read Court of Owls.” To which Pattinson replied, “It’s the best one.”

“It’s the first in a new run of Batman. The first issue is insanely good, and that would be messed up,” Dano said about a sequel to The Batman introducing the Court of Owls to the silver screen.

“If they disappear and they’re secretly running it [Court of Owls], that would really be a difficult thing for Bruce to handle. That would be a nightmare,” said Pattinson. “I was definitely thinking that the Court of Owls would be in the sequel,” Pattinson added.

This response then got a visceral response from Dano, almost as if Pattinson was giving something away. “The Court of Owls would be dope. It’s a good thing it’s not in this film,” Dano then replied in a winking manner.

Kravitz then teased, “Or is it?”

This is not an invitation to spoil anything about the new movie, but if The Batman drops any hints about the Court of Owls making their way onto the big screen, I’m going to lose my shit. Additionally, to piggyback off of what Dano said, yes, the Court of Owls storyline is fantastic. If you pick it up, I recommend getting it physically as opposed to digitally. Why? Well, the reading format for issue #5 forces you to rotate the book as a part of the plot, and that does not translate well to the digital format. Trust me, you’ll be glad you went with a physical version of the story when you see it.

Established in the pages of Batman: The Black Mirror and Batman: The Gates of Gotham, and penned by writer Scott Snyder, the Court of Owls is a surreptitious organization whose roots dig deep into the history and formation of Gotham City. Despite being introduced a decade ago, the Court is now an important part of the Batman canon, with many of its members working to manipulate the politicians, planning, and inner workings of Gotham from the shadows. The Court’s weapon of choice is a highly-skilled group of puppet-like assassins they call Talons. Fun Fact: Dick Grayson was intended to become a Talon before being adopted by the billionaire Bruce Wayne.

Do you think Pattinson let something slip in the video? Will the Court of Owls be featured in a sequel to The Batman? Let us see your thoughts and theories in the comments section below.
