The CW puts their DC superheroes in a different kind of mask for COVID PSA

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Most superheroes do wear a mask to keep their identities a secret but they usually don't cover their mouths. The CW is changing that with their DC superheroes as they have launched a new marketing campaign that serves as a COVID-19 PSA to mask up when hitting the streets.

The network has revealed character posters of the biggest superheroes on their lineup wearing face coverings to promote what many believe can slow down the spread of COVID-19 until a vaccine is readily available. Being represented in this series of coronavirus-aimed PSA's are The Flash, Supergirl, Superman, who is representing is upcoming 2021 show Superman & Lois, Stargirl, Black Lightning, and White Canary and Beebo from DC's Legends of Tomorrow. All of the heroes are donning their signature looks with the added component of a PPE-friendly mask worn over mouth and nose. You can check out the character posters below.

The "Real Heroes Wear Masks" campaign seems like a smart move for The CW since their lineup consists primarily of series that feature a slew of superheroes that some of their viewers do idolize. The debate on wearing face coverings has become heated since a lot of states began mandating that you have to wear one while out at public establishments. For some, they feel as if their rights are being impeded upon by being made to wear the masks while others stand behind the findings of various scientists and doctors that insist that wearing the face coverings slows down the spread of the virus. The CW is hoping that their new campaign will help in some way to make the voices of the scientists and doctors be heard loud and clear that wearing a face mask is a tool to help stop the spread of COVID-19 and not a political symbol that it has turned into.
