Wild Eye Releasing has scheduled an August 9th digital release for writer/director Kurtis Spieler’s horror film The Dead Girl in Apartment 03, with a Blu-ray and DVD release to follow on November 22nd. With the digital release just a few weeks away, a trailer for The Dead Girl in Apartment 03 has arrived online, and you can check it out in the embed above!
Starring Laura Dooling (Mr. Mercedes), Michael Schantz (City on a Hill), and Adrienne King, who battled Mrs. Voorhees in the original Friday the 13th, The Dead Girl in Apartment 03 has the following synopsis:
After recently moving to New York City, a young woman is horrified to discover that her roommate has died in their apartment under mysterious circumstances. After her body is taken away by the police, Laura soon feels an unsettling presence in the apartment and paranormal signs that she will soon be the next victim. With the help of a pair of NYC detectives, Laura must uncover the secret behind her roommate’s death before it is too late.

Bryan Manley Davis (The Devil’s Well), Frank Wihbey (The Sadist), and newcomer Amy Holomakoff, who usually works in the sound department, are also in the cast.
Spieler has over fifteen years of short film credits to his name, and has previously directed the horror films Sheep Skin and The Devil’s Well. He was also credited as “re-directing” the action movie New York Ninja, which was originally shot in 1984 by John Liu but not finished until Vinegar Syndrome unearthed the film decades later. Liu’s film had not been edited and the script and sound elements had been lost, so Spieler had to cut the film together, write dialogue to match the performances of the actors, and hire new actors to provide the voices of the characters.
The back story of The Dead Girl in Apartment 03 may not be as interesting as the story behind New York Ninja, but it looks like it could be an interesting horror movie and the presence of Adrienne King pretty much guarantees that I’ll be checking it out at some point.
