The Falcon and The Winter Soldier trailer & Super Bowl spot sets new record

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

WandaVision is currently giving us our first Marvel series fix on Disney+ but the premiere of their next series, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is just over a month away and Disney and Marvel Studios accelerated the promotion over the weekend with the debut of a new trailer and Super Bowl spot. Fans are clearly excited to see what Marvel does next because the series' promos set a new record for streaming services.

According to "Deadline", the Super Bowl spot and trailer earned 125 million views within their first 24 hours which sets a new record for a streaming series. The debut also topped Black Widow's numbers from its trailer debut last year which pulled in 119 views in its first 24 hours. Comparing it to fellow Disney+ series WandaVision, The Falcon and The Winter Solider also easily topped its numbers as that show's debut trailer attracted 53 million views in the 24 hours following its premiere during the Primetime Emmy Awards last September.

What may be even more impressive is that the promos for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier even toppled the teaser numbers for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The first footage from the final film in the Skywalker Saga generated 111 million views in 24 hours after its debut at Star Wars Celebration back in 2019.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame and, after being handed the mantle of Captain America, Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) teams up with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) in a worldwide adventure that puts their abilities to the test as they fight the anti-patriotism group the Flag-Smashers. The series also stars Daniel Bruhl, Emily VanCamp, and Wyatt Russell.

I get that feeling that the promos for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier are generating so much heat because the two characters are pretty popular in the MCU and, while WandaVision has seemed to be well-received once it found its groove, this series offers up some of the more traditional action that Marvel fans really enjoy. It really takes things back to basics but in a good way that reminds them of Captain America: The Winter Soldier or Captain America: Civil War.
