The Jackman-Reynolds rivalry has moved to the flaming bag of crap phase

The Hollywood bromance that will never die marches on, even during a pandemic.

Ryan Reynolds' birthday is coming up on October 23, and the actor's BFF, Hugh Jackman, already has a hot idea about how he can make Ryan's special day exactly that. While appearing on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show to hype his Emmy nominated performance in HBO's Bad Education, the conversation eventually turned to the thought of actress Blake Lively, who's married to Reynolds, being quarantined with her husband.

“To think of what she’s had to put up with," Jackman joked about having to remain indoors with Ryan for any considerable length of time. "Let’s just think COVID with Ryan. It’s amazing. I just hope more than anything that she is on her own with her friends just really enjoying her day.”

Shortly thereafter, the conversation turned to birthdays and the fact that both Jackman and Reynolds celebrate theirs during the month of October. When asked what he plans on getting Reynolds for his birthday, Jackman's ideal gift proposal was just as nostalgic as it is nasty.

"The first thing that came to mind was a game we used to play as kids, did you ever play that game, we used to call it Ring and Run?" Jackman said while hoping to paint a vivid mental picture for the show's audience. "Where you go knock on someone’s door and run away. So, of course, my older brother took it to the next level and when you came to open the door there was a package that was on fire. The package was filled with various amounts of dog poo from the neighborhood. So you would stamp it out. That’s the first thing that came to mind."

Ah, the old Ring and Run gag. Do people still make an attempt to execute this foul prank? I was probably 11-years-old when last I heard of someone from my friend group putting this gross-out gag together. Personally, I was never too interested in scouring my neighborhood for dog shit, so I just played DOOM on the PC while they had their fun. That said, I'd be lying if I claimed that I wouldn't like to be a fly on the wall for when Reynolds discovers a flaming bag of dog crap on his front porch. Would he immediately stomp it out? Would he punt it into the front yard and watch it burn? My guess is that Reynolds would carefully extinguish the bag, find the nearest zoo, acquire a duffle bag of elephant dung, drive to Jackman's house, then light that bag on fire atop the Wolverine actor's doorstep. Ugh! Just thinking of the smell is making me gag.
