On this week's episode, we're taking on director Wes Craven's SCREAM QUADRILOGY featuring SCREAM, SCREAM 2, SCREAM 3, and SCREAM 4 starring Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Neve Campbell, and the voice of Roger Jackson.
Wes Craven re-invented and revitalised the slasher-horror genre with this modern horror classic, which manages to be funny, clever and scary, as a fright-masked knife maniac stalks high-school students in middle-class suburbia. Craven is happy to provide both tension and self-parody as the body count mounts – but the victims aren't always the ones you'd expect.
The original film was directed by Wes Craven from a screenplay written by Kevin Williamson. Cathy Konrad and Cary Woods produced the hit horror movie which featured music by Marco Beltrami, cinematography by Mark Irwin, and editing by Patrick Lussier. Arquette, Campbell, and Cox's co-stars the first time around included Matthew Lillard, Rose McGowan, Skeet Ulrich, and Drew Barrymore. Woods Entertainment was the production company behind the movie which was distributed by Dimension Films into a theater near you back on December 20, 1996.
My favortie kill from the movies has got to be the obvious classic of Drew Barrymore's masterpiece opening sequence from the original SCREAM. Sure the series has some top-notch death scenes from there on out, but it all started with Barrymore's murder and the series has never been better.
