Zack Snyder directs gritty reboot of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

After Stephen Colbert poked fun at Zack Snyder's Justice League back in March, the director brought the full force of his dark, gritty reboot powers to Colbert's own show. During a segment of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert earlier this week, Zack Snyder gave the late-night talk show his own personal touch, and you can check that out above if you'd like to start your weekend with a chuckle.

"As a director I like a challenge. That’s why I spent my whole career tackling the big genres," Snyder said in the segment. "I’m always looking to grow as an artist, so when my agent asked me if I wanted to direct an episode of The Late Show, I immediately said yes. I love Carpool Karaoke, and then he said, 'no, it's the one that's before that,' and I was like, 'oh, okay.'" The first step was to create a virtual late-night set unlike anything anyone had seen before, including a green-screen desk. "This desk that I’m at here is $80 million more my actual desk," Colbert said. "But it can instantly transform into anything." Not so fast, Colbert. Snyder added that the desk would remain a desk, but the "potential to be anything is what great cinema is about." Check out the rest of the video for hardcore workouts, slow-motion, and a new take on Justice League's Knightmare sequence.

Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead is now streaming on Netflix and has already become one of the streaming service's most-viewed movies.
