If you're still planning on seeing Nacho Vigalondo's COLOSSAL and would rather enter the film knowing as little as possible, then consider the following to contain some mild spoilers. After a series of poor life choices fueled by too much alcohol, Gloria (Anne Hathaway) loses her job and is kicked out of her apartment by her boyfriend. Relocating to her hometown, Gloria reunites with a childhood friend (Jason Sudeikis) and soon finds herself slipping back into old habits. After a giant Kaiju suddenly appears in Seoul, South Korea and leaves a trail of destruction in its wake, Gloria begins to realize that she shares a psychic connection with the monster.

COLOSSAL debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival last September and enjoyed a limited-release several weeks ago, but much of COLOSSAL's marketing has avoided revealing that Hathaway's Kaiju isn't the only giant on a rampage, until now.

Anne Hathaway taking on a giant mecha? Count me in. You'll have to see COLOSSAL for yourself to see how it all goes down, but our own Chris Bumbray, who reviewed the film at TIFF, praised COLOSSAL by calling the film a "defiantly original, often funny monster movie" which soon dives into "surprisingly dark territory." Check out Chris Bumbray's full review of COLOSSAL for more.

The official synopsis for COLOSSAL:

Gloria (Anne Hathaway) is an out-of-work girl who, after getting kicked out of her apartment by her boyfriend, is forced to leave her life in New York and move back to her hometown. When news reports surface that a giant creature is destroying Seoul, South Korea, Gloria gradually comes to the realization that she is somehow connected to his far-off phenomenon. As events begin to spin out of control, Gloria must determine why her seemingly insignificant existence has such a colossal effect on the fate of the world.

COLOSSAL is now playing in theaters.
