The main human in Smurf village is Neil Patrick Harris!

The SMURFS film just got it’s first human actor, the amazing Neil Patrick Harris.

Deadline Hollywood broke the news, but they only threw out a couple of details: Harris got the lead role and filming will begin in April, when he’ll be on hiatus from HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER.

Does this mean that Harris will play Gargamel? He’s the only human I remember from the cartoon series. I can see him as the wizard, but I’m fairly certain they’ll go with someone else. The only two human leads that were announced were female. Unless they plan on putting NPH in a pregnant suit.

This all sounds pretty cool, but will it be as “cool” as when we found out that Jason Lee was going to be in the CHIPMUNKS film? All I know is that I’m going to be so smurfing disappointed if it isn’t at least enjoyable. Then I’ll want my smurfing money back from that smurf of a theater. Yep. Time to end the article now.
