Jenny from the block is ready to knock your block off! The first teaser for Netflix’s upcoming action flick The Mother has arrived and by all indications, Jennifer Lopez is one baaaad mother.

In the opening moments of the teaser for The Mother, we see Jennifer Lopez’s character doing pull-ups on the side of an isolated house in the middle of the snow while in a belly-exposing tanktop–so you know she’s not to be messed with. What follows is a rapid succession of foot chases, car chases and Jennifer Lopez being the scope of a sniper rifle. “If there’s trouble,” she says, “come find me.” Will do, J-Lo!

The Mother’s official plot: “A deadly female assassin comes out of hiding to protect the daughter that she gave up years before, while on the run from dangerous men.”

J-Lo’s (or is that J-Fleck’s?) relationship with Netflix is evolving quickly ever since she signed a multi-year deal. The Mother will be Jennifer Lopez’s first, but she will also star in Atlas, where she plays “a woman fighting for humanity in a future where an AI soldier has determined the only way to end war is to end humanity. To outthink this rogue AI, Atlas must work with the one thing she fears most — another AI.”

The Mother co-stars Gael García Bernal, Joseph Fiennes and Paul Raci. The screenplay is by Misha Green (Lovecraft Country), Andrew Berloff (who earned an Oscar nomination for writing Straight Outta Compton) and Peter Craig (The Batman). The Mother is directed by Niki Caro, whose filmography includes 2002’s Whale Rider, 2015’s McFarland, USA and 2020’s Mulan.

While no official release date has been set, The Mother will hit Netflix just in time for Mother’s Day in May 2023.
