The three-quel we all wanted: Night at the Museum 3 is coming in 2014

Forget whatever Best Picture caliber films may be opening next Christmas because NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM 3 is officially opening December 25, 2014!

Fox announced the film’s release date along with confirming director Shawn Levy and star Ben Stiller will return. No details of plot were revealed, but I would have to guess that if the first one took place at a museum in New York and the second was at the Smithsonian, the next logical step would be to take it international to either London or Paris.

Whichever way this goes, I am hoping Levy learned something when he directed REAL STEEL. I actually liked that movie a hell of a lot more than I expected to. Neither of the NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM movies are much more than popcorn family movies, but I do expect a modicum of quality from the massive casts they carry.

Expect, if anyone returns aside from Stiller, to see Ricky Gervais or Robin Williams when NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM 3 opens next year.
