Super Dark Times Kevin Phillips

Sometimes a trailer will come out of nowhere and completely blow you away, and that's exactly what the trailer for director Kevin Phillips' coming-of-age thriller SUPER DARK TIMES did for me when I decided to check it out this morning. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much from something called SUPER DARK TIMES, but from the looks of it Phillips has delivered something very special with this film.

This is one of the best trailers I've seen in a while. Everything about it appeals to me; the tone, the style, the retro setting (the events of the film seem to occur around the time TRUE LIES was released on VHS), the gorgeous small town visuals, the intensity of the nightmarish scenario it descends into… This looks like a captivating tragedy.

Written by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski, SUPER DARK TIMES follows

best friends growing up in an Upstate New York suburb in the 1990s, where teenage life revolves around hanging out, looking for kicks, navigating first love and vying for popularity. When a traumatic incident drives a wedge between the previously inseparable pair, their youthful innocence abruptly vanishes. Each young man processes the tragedy in his own way, until circumstances grow increasingly complex and spiral into violence.

Owen Campbell, Charlie Tahan, Elizabeth Cappuccino, Max Talisman, Sawyer Barth, and Amy Hargreaves star.

The Orchard will be releasing SUPER DARK TIMES in New York, Los Angeles, and other markets on September 29th. A digital and On Demand release will follow on October 3rd.
