The official website for CHRISTMAS WITH THE DEAD has launched, and to go with it you can find the early teaser artwork below. The film is based on a short story by Joe R. Lansdale, who also wrote the BUBBA HO-TEP short story. In addition to penning the script, Lansdale will serve as executive producer. Here is the plot:

It was a foolish thing to do, and Calvin had not bothered with it the past two years, not since the death of his wife and child. But this year he decided, quite suddenly, that tomorrow was Christmas Eve. And zombies be damned, the lights and decorations are going up…

The film is currently in pre-production, with lensing set to begin in June in Texas. Said Lansdale, “I’m excited about it moving forward and very fortunate to have some fine people at the helm. I’m looking forward to begin filming this summer.” Good luck making it feel like the holiday season during the Texas summer!

Brian James Fitzpatrick (THE KILLER INSIDE ME) is sitting in the director’s chair, while Marcus Koch (100 TEARS, SWEATSHOP) and Oddtopsy F/X are handling the special effects. Damian Maffei (CLOSED FOR THE SEASON), Brad Maule (“General Hospital”), and Joe’s daughter Kasey Lansdale will star.
