Tom Hiddleston will lend his vocal talents to Aardman’s Early Man

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Aardman Animation movies have always been able to attract big names in the acting community to form terrific ensemble voice casts. Actors like Hugh Grant, Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Jim Broadbent, Salma Hayek, Mel Gibson, Kate Winslet, Ian McKellen and Martin Freeman have all lent their voices to Aardman works. Those are big names to live up to, and based off the recent casting for EARLY MAN, the movie looks like it will rise to the occasion.

THR got the scoop that none other than Loki himself, Tom Hiddleston, will be joining Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) in the prehistoric adventure from the renowned studio. In an announcement made by Aardman and Studio Canal, Hiddleston will be playing the villain of the film, the “ridiculously pompous” and "money-loving tyrant" Lord Nooth. Director Nick Park praised Hiddleston saying:

"Tom is a wonderful actor and it’s so thrilling to see him bring our comic villain to life with his amazing talent, energy and enthusiasm. It is a great privilege to work with Tom and I’m so excited to see his character Lord Nooth emerge on screen!”

Hiddleston has gone on to praise the film and its script, and even took to Instagram to make us all jealous:

"I’m thrilled to be able to breathe some semblance of life into this hysterical villain and to work with Eddie for the first time. Early Man made me laugh out loud when I read it. Lord Nooth is larger than life in every respect. I can’t wait for audiences to meet him."

Hiddleston is an undeniably talented actor, and has brought devilish charm to his now iconic performance as the Marvel villain, Loki. EARLY MAN will most likely take that level of love-to-hate villainy to 11, making for a hilarious, delightful time at the movies. Now all we have to do is get Hiddleston to dress up like Loki with his scepter, and Redmayne as Scamander with his wand, and have the two of them go at it. Right, guys? Oh, you've all left.

EARLY MAN is currently filming and aiming for release in early 2018 with Eddie Redmayne and Tom Hiddleston.
