Video game adaptations have rarely lit the cinematic world on fire and with Hollywood’s latest attempt to cross over a video game franchise into a movie counterpart with TOMB RAIDER, it only felt appropriate to cast our minds back to the first time the property was adapted to the big screen. In 2001, LARA CROFT: TOMB RAIDER was released, with Angelina Jolie stepping into the well worn boots of the dual pistol wielding Lara Croft. Much like Alicia Vikander (the new Lara in the 2018 TOMB RAIDER), Jolie was fresh off of an Academy Award win, and yet still chose to take on the fun role of Miss Croft, in a heroine centered action flick. Was it a great film? Hardly, but it was very much of its time, and Jolie was some what of a dream casting pick for the role back then. Regardless, we turn our attention not to Angelina Jolie fighting a robot, but to the Top 5 Movie Mistakes in LARA CROFT: TOMB RAIDER, from nonsensical icicles to magical pistols, we’ve got it covered!
