Trailer invites you to Adam Gierasch’s House by the Lake

House by the Lake Adam Gierasch

Adam Gierasch has contributed a lot to the horror genre in the last twenty years, directing AUTOPSY, FRACTURED, the NIGHT OF THE DEMONS remake, and a segment of TALES OF HALLOWEEN, and writing the screenplays of many more horror movies with his wife Jace Anderson. Together, Gierasch and Anderson have written such films as MOTHER OF TEARS, the TOOLBOX MURDERS remake, and Tobe Hooper's MORTUARY.

Three years ago, Gierasch went into production on a film called HOUSE BY THE LAKE, directing from a script written by Josh Burnell that told the story of

the Morgans, a loving yet troubled family hoping to reconnect on their vacation. When their autistic 10-year-old daughter begins to fixate on a mysterious friend who may or may not be real, she retreats further into her own world and family tensions rise to the surface.

The cast included James Callis, Anne Dudek, Michael Bowen, and Amiah Miller.

We haven't heard much about HOUSE BY THE LAKE since August of 2014, but now news is starting to trickle out. The movie made its long-awaited debut at the North Hollywood Cinefest this past March, where it received nominations for Best Director, Best Actress (Dudek), and Best Picture. Then a few days ago, Gierasch took to his Facebook account to share – via IMDb – the film's trailer.

There is no distribution news to share yet, but the trailer for HOUSE BY THE LAKE can be seen below. It reveals there is another major cast member – Natasha Bassett – and also that the "mysterious friend" the daughter begins to fixate on is a "fish man" who lives in the lake and is going to teach her how to breathe underwater. That's troubling.

Give the trailer a look, and we'll keep you updated as we hear more about HOUSE BY THE LAKE.

This seems like a fitting time for HOUSE BY THE LAKE to start making its way toward release, as Miller will soon be seen in WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES, where she plays a human child who befriends talking apes instead of a fish man.
