Originally scheduled to hit theaters on July 1, Paramount is moving up the release of TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON to Wednesday, June 29. This date applies for all markets except China and Japan. Could the blockbuster capitalize on the two extra days? It will be the only action flick opening for nearly a month.

An insider told Deadline: “Early response to footage, especially the 3D footage, has been great so we want to get the word out that this film is as good or better than the first and much better than the last.”

The sequel is directed by Michael Bay and written by Ehren Kruger. It stars Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (below), Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, John Malkovich, John Turturro, Patrick Dempsey and Frances McDormand.

The Autobots and Decepticons become involved in a perilous space race between the U.S. and Russia, and once again human Sam Witwicky has to come to the aid of his robot friends.
