Trim Season: Alex Essoe, Bex Taylor-Klaus star in marijuana farm horror thriller

Genre regular Alex Essoe (Doctor Sleep) co-stars with Bex Taylor-Klaus (Hell Fest), Jane Badler (V), Ally Ioannides (Into the Badlands), Cory Hart (Fear the Walking Dead), Ryan Donowho (Imaginary Heroes), Marc Senter (Starry Eyes), and newcomer Juliette Kenn De Balinthazy in director Ariel Vida’s horror thriller Trim Season. The cast is led by newcomer Bethlehem Million, who will soon be seen in the John Hyams / Kevin Williamson film Sick.

Vida wrote the screenplay for Trim Season with David Blair, working from a story crafted by Megan Sutherland, Cullen Poythress, and Sean E. DeMott. That story is loosely inspired by a real world event, the disappearance of a group of women who went missing in Humboldt County, California during harvesting season for marijuana. In the film,

a group of young people from Los Angeles head to a remote marijuana farm, where they hope to make some quick cash. Soon they discover the location’s dark secrets as they race against time to escape the mountain on which they are trapped.

Vida provided The Hollywood Reporter with the following statement:

Trim Season explores themes of power and agency, friendship and loss, all through a stylized lens brought to life by an amazing cast and crew that I couldn’t be more proud of and grateful for.”

Hlbrk Ent’s Paul Holbrook is producing the film with Sean E. DeMott of Execution Style and Jane Badler of MeJane Productions. Bex Taylor-Klaus earns an associate producer credit on the film, while Cameron Burns co-produces and Aaron B. Koontz and Leal Naim of Paper Street Pictures serve as executive producers.

Trim Season has already wrapped production in Salt Lake City, Utah, and the filmmakers are hoping to make the festival rounds with it.

With a cast like that, I’ll be watching Trim Season for sure.
