Remember when Sony released the first image from their upcoming Marvel Comics-inspired film VENOM and it just showed star Tom Hardy, in character as journalist Eddie Brock, standing on the set with a notepad in hand? Or when they released a teaser trailer that didn't even include a glimpse of the titular monstrous anti-hero? The clip they've now released from the film is right along those lines.
Running about 30 seconds, the clip centers on Hardy's Brock conducting an interview with the villain of the film, Riz Ahmed as Dr. Carlton Drake, head of the unscrupulous Life Foundation. It seems like the Life Foundation will be responsible for the alien symbiote mayhem that ensues in the film, but in this clip all we get is Hardy and Ahmed talking to each other.
If you want to see Venom in a VENOM video, the TV spot embedded below the clip might be more to your liking, as it's more focused on the title creature and its interactions with the human host it bonds with, Eddie Brock.
Directed by ZOMBIELAND's Ruben Fleischer, VENOM is inspired by the comic book storylines Lethal Protector and Planet of the Symbiotes. Scott Rosenberg, Jeff Pinkner, and Kelly Marcel wrote the screenplay, but the official synopsis keeps the story under wraps:
One of Marvel's most enigmatic, complex and badass characters comes to the big screen, starring Academy Award nominated actor Tom Hardy as the lethal protector Venom.
In the cast with Hardy and Ahmed are Michelle Williams, Jenny Slate, Reid Scott, Woody Harrelson, Sope Aluko, and Ron Cephas Jones.
VENOM is set to reach theatres on October 5th.
