Christmas movies are a lucrative sub-genre. Just like Christmas songs, Christmas movies and TV specials are a great way to celebrate the holiday season. It gets even more fun when the normally wholesome holiday mixes with genres that are juxtaposed to its image. Case-in-point, Christmas horror movies or Christmas action movies. One such film we have to look forward to is the upcoming David Harbour action movie, Violent Night. Universal has released the trailer for the merry film.

The following is a synopsis for Violent Night and is recommended to be read in the movie trailer voice,

A team of elite mercenaries breaks into a wealthy family compound on Christmas Eve, taking everyone inside hostage. But the team isn’t prepared for a surprise combatant: Santa Claus. Kringle is on the grounds, and he’s about to show why this Nick is no saint.”

Violent Night comes to us from producer David Leitch, co-director of John Wick and director of Atomic BlondeDeadpool 2, Fast and Furious presents: Hobbs & Shaw, and the recent Bullet Train. Leitch brings his faithful stunt company 87North Productions with him on this merry ride through pulverizing bodies.

David Harbour, who refers to Violent Night as “a hardcore Christmas movie,” is joined in the cast by John Leguizamo (Land of the Dead), Beverly D’Angelo (National Lampoon’s Vacation), Alexis Louder (Copshop), Cam Gigandet (Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse), André Eriksen (Norsemen), Edi Patterson (The Righteous Gemstones), and newcomer Alex Haskell.

Violent Night is set to be released on December 2. The film will premiere at NYCC on Friday. Stay tuned as a JoBlo correspondent will be there with a review!
