James Gunn has a new movie in the works, however he won't be behind the camera for the project. Yesterday Gunn announced on Facebook that WOLF CREEK filmmaker Greg McLean will direct THE BELCO EXPERIMENT from a script by the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY director. Gunn is also producing with Peter Safran (ANNABELLE, THE CONJURING), and MGM is financing the planned film.

James Gunn says the idea for the movie first came to him in a dream, and he "woke up and wrote the first draft in a two-week fugue state binge." Gunn also says it is "the most intense and uncompromising script" he's ever written.

Synopsis:

The story revolves around the American Belco company in South America which is mysteriously sealed off at the beginning of a work day, and its employees are ordered to kill each other or be killed themselves. This starts an escalation of violence, where we discover the true nature of each and every Belco employee.

Greg McLean is prepping to shoot THE BELCO EXPERIMENT this June in Bogota, Columbia; are you interested in checking it out?
