Yesterday, we shared the poster for X, the new horror film from The House of the Devil (watch it HERE) and The Innkeepers (watch it HERE) director Ti West. When they released the poster online, distributor A24 promised we would see the trailer for the film today – and they have kept that promise! You can watch the trailer for X in the embed above.

Up until today, all we knew about X is that it would have something to do with “the making of an adult film”. Now an official synopsis has been unveiled to give us a bit more information:

In 1979, a group of young filmmakers set out to make an adult film in rural Texas, but when their reclusive, elderly hosts catch them in the act, the cast find themselves fighting for their lives.

Previously announced cast members Brittany Snow (Would You Rather), Mia Goth (A Cure for Wellness), Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi (Bill & Ted Face the Music), and Jenna Ortega (the new Scream movie) are joined by Martin Henderson (The Strangers: Prey at Night), Owen Campbell (Super Dark Times), and Stephen Ure (Deathgasm).

Co-financed by A24 and Bron, X was produced by Jacob Jaffke, Kevin Turen, and Harrison Kreiss, with Sam Levinson, Ashley Levinson, and Peter Phok serving as executive producers.

We know A24 will be releasing X sometime in the near future, but they still haven’t revealed exactly what their release strategy is. Hopefully we’ll be hearing a specific release date soon, because this movie looks to me like it’s going to be a blast to watch.

Despite the title, X is not X-rated. The film was been rated R for “strong bloody violence and gore, strong sexual content, graphic nudity, drug use, and language”.

What did you think of the trailer? Are you looking forward to watching X? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
