You season 4: Charlotte Ritchie joins Penn Badgley in Netflix thriller series

Production is officially underway on the fourth season of the Netflix thriller series You, and now that cameras are rolling it has been announced that series star Penn Badgley is being joined in the cast of season 4 by Charlotte Ritchie. Ritchie’s previous credits include the Netflix show Feel Good and the BBC comedy series Ghosts, which inspired the CBS series of the same name. Ritchie will also be seen in the upcoming movie Wonka, which stars Timothee Chalamet as the Roald Dahl character Willy Wonka.

Some projects like to keep character details under wraps, but not You. Netflix gave a lengthy description of the character Ritchie will be playing. Her name is Kate, and she is

fearsomely smart, independent, suspicious, misses nothing. She is fiercely loyal to her friends, a brick wall to everyone else. The daughter of a chaotic, bohemian single mother, Kate worked hard to create the life she now leads. She’s an art gallery director whose job means managing tempestuous artists. Kate tends to be “the adult in the room,” and has embraced the moniker of “icy bitch.” She’s especially protective of best friend Lady Phoebe, a sweet and trusting person whose extreme wealth and fame tend to attract opportunists. Kate prefers “arrangements” to love, which is why she dates fun but self-centered partier Malcolm. When Malcolm invites Joe, an American outsider of no apparent means, into their privileged world, Kate not only immediately dislikes him, she strongly suspects something about the man is not what he seems.

Based on a series of novels by Caroline Kepnes (take a look at her work HERE), You was developed by Sera Gamble and Greg Berlanti, and Gamble serves as showrunner. It centers on

Joe Goldberg, a man who will do just about anything when love is at stake.

A synopsis for You season 4 has not yet been revealed. It looks like the show is heading to Paris for the new season. There’s no word on whether or not season 3 cast member Tati Gabrielle, who can be seen in the recent theatrical release Uncharted, will be reprising the role of Marienne Bellamy.

Last month, Lukas Gage was cast in the series regular role of Adam, “an ex-pat American, the youngest son of a wealthy East-Coast magnate. He’s famous for spectacularly failing to meet the standards of his successful, venerable family. An entrepreneur and a gambler, Adam is a warm and funny party host and fast friend. But underneath, Adam is hiding a trove of secrets and papering over problems with heavy self-medication. Determined to prove himself, Adam’s taking big, risky swings, living by the truism that a good businessman does absolutely anything he can get away with. Does he love his wealthy, titled girlfriend, or is he using her? There’s no doubt he’s manipulating his friends; the only question is how far he’d go…”

You is produced by Berlanti Productions, and Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television. Berlanti, Gamble, Sarah Schechter, Leslie Morgenstein, David Madden, Gina Girolamo, John Scott, Neil Reynolds, Michael Foley, and Justin Lo also serve as executive producers.

I’m a big fan of this show, so I’m glad to see season 4 moving ahead.
