Adrianne Palicki is TV’s new Wonder Woman

Despite numerous attempts over the years, DC Comics’ Amazonian superheroine WONDER WOMAN still hasn’t found her way to movie screens. But she’ll deflect bullets and lasso villains on TV, courtesy of NBC and writer David E. Kelley (“The Practice”, “Ally McBeal”).

More than three decades after Lynda Carter famously jiggled her way into mens’ memories, there’s a new Amazonian actress to wear whatever costume they decide to hang on this new variation of WW — Adrianne Palicki will star in their pilot.

While probably best known from “Friday Night Lights” and “Supernatural”, Palicki also recently appeared as the pregnant waitress in the horror flick LEGION. She’ll also be seen (eventually) in the Jennifer Grey role in the remake of RED DAWN.

Warner Bros. says: “The series pilot is a reinvention of the iconic DC Comics title in which Wonder Woman – a.k.a. Diana Prince – is a vigilante crime fighter in Los Angeles but also a successful corporate executive and a modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life.” The Kelley-penned script will be directed by Jeffrey Reiner (“The Event”).

Bleeding Cool got their mitts on an early script for the pilot and said that while it does incorporate elements and characters from the comics continuity, it also takes significant liberties with the statuesque goddess. They describe the script as “Buffy”-inspired and a “slightly goofy comedy-drama about a hotshot business woman who moonlights as a superheroine, packed with Girl Power pop-songs and including the awkward phrase ‘You go, girl.'”
