We’ve seen slow zombies, fast zombies, learning zombies and pet zombies…how about 3D zombies? That’s right, New Amsterdam Entertainment, the production company that holds the rights to George A. Romero’s 1978 classic zombie film DAWN OF THE DEAD, have commissioned 3D company In Three to convert the iconic film to stereoscopic 3D. Now those zombies will really be coming’atcha! How the hell are they gonna do this for a film that’s thirty years old? The process involves creating “a second camera image from a 2-D image [then] each frame is “dimensionalized,” meaning that all objects are moved forward or backward from the screen or in relation to one another so as to achieve the desired dramatic effect.” The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year with a release in theaters likely sometime next year.
