Strike Back below!
by: Mike Sampson Dec. 10, 2008

KNOWING is a movie I feel like I've been following forever. I remember being fascinated when I first heard the premise - a child's drawings in a recently unearthed time capsule accurately predict a series of disasters. I mean, how cool is that? I was disappointed that Richard Kelly (DONNIE DARKO) was no longer involved but happy that the film fell into the hands of someone I trust dearly, Alex Proyas.

All these years later KNOWING is almost here with its March, 2009 release just a few short months away. Today we've got an exclusive look at a new still from the film showing one of the movie's biggest scenes. That plane crash is one of the predicted disasters and proof to Nicolas Cage's character that something funky is going down. Check out the still below and keep your eye out for the brand new trailer, which will go live this Friday on Apple's trailer page!

Extra Tidbit: What if Fox had allowed Proyas to make I, ROBOT the way he wanted to?...

I totally concur with IQuitMrWhite.
I, Robot is in my top 5 sci-fi movies.
Although I do agree that there are major parts that could do with some tweaking it's just that the good parts are so damn good.

I was really into this until you said Nicolas Cage. I'll have to wait for the trailer now.

Am I the only person in the world who liked I, Robot? Proyas has stated many times that he DID make the movie he wanted to make. And it was a good movie. Dark City was awesome but had flaws, and The Crow is no masterpiece. I'm just not sure why I, Robot disappointed so many...

off topic -actors strike
Please excuse the offtopic, but it is current film news, if that makes it better-- and feel free to file this under the topic about the actors strike, whenever you guys get to posting anything about it... I just felt the need to rant and express my feelings now...

Please excuse the offtopic, but it is current film news, if that makes it better-- and feel free to file this under the topic about the actors strike, whenever you guys get to posting anything about it... I just felt the need to rant and express my feelings now...

Screw them-- Im honestly shocked they even agreed to have the vote -- With an enormous recession affecting the entire world, and much less than a year after the end of the writers strike, the actors think they should be asking for more money, and threatening to squelch the industry entirely if they dont get it?.... Big surprise... not really, as actors are known for being the epitome of self-centered. But this is like an inverted microcosm, or a huge, larger-than-life model, synechdoche-type version of the actors mentality, in that, as the single actor puts himself above the single other, the entire lot of actors put themselves above the whole world, and specifically the industry and their co-workers (who theyre basically firing), and whose spouse or significant other is just as likely to be unemployed due to the recession...

To the actors--get a grip, and when will you all learn that youre really just glorified props-- Props who, on average, already get paid WAY better than anyone else on the set.

And finally, even if I were in the guild, and FOR the strike, Id still think its a stupid time to vote, as a recession will obviously pull people toward saying nay-- Although Im making some grand generalizations, Im sure there are MANY others in the actors guilds that see my way of thinking, and are probably NOT going to vote for the strike, simply due to the economy... not because they dont agree with their cause.... but because they dont want to worsen the economy, and more than likely, theyre in need of money already (so they dont want to strike and not get paid for months on end)....

And weirdly, honestly, it almost seems like blackmail to me, because frankly, I have to think the majority of the big film studios, who happen to be publicly traded, would see a severe hit to their stocks if it were announced that the actors have gone on strike.... And maybe Im paranoid, but I have to think the actors guild knows the effect a strike would have on the majority of film studios/companies... They would probably, almost instantly, lose a shitload of money, and most people would acknowledge that.... In the past few months, mere whispers of bad news have bankrupted many companies, and even the true giants are going down weekly-- And yet the actors think they should be getting a raise, and a bonus on top? ... No, thats not really right... Its more like their company's firing people, and yet the actors are in the bosses office shoving a picture of him and a prostitute in his face, and blackmailing him into a raise....

Either way you look at it, this is a dumb and obnoxious move by the actors guild... almost as bad a move as the writers signing their new, pathetic, [link] contracts after forcing the majority of the business to shut down for half a year....

Actually... about I, Robot
Proyas said in an interview on AICN with Quint (I won't post the direct link to competing sites, but search google for "QUINT PROYAS I, ROBOT KNOWING", and you'll find it)...

Quint: Do you think in ten years time you will be able to scrounge together a different cut of that movie?

"Alex Proyas: The irony is that I am still proud of that movie and I actually feel I made the best possible movie I could have made; it was just the personal toll that it took on me to get to that point."

So, that scares me a little. Loved Dark City though!

What?
This movie looks great, despite Cage's hair. Not many trailers from this past year made me say "Wow, I can't wait to see that!"
"Hopefully the studio doesn't rape this one..." Statements like that always baffle me. Studios are why we have 99% of the movies we love in the first place. I am soooo tired of whiners. If you don't like the movies being given to us, get off your a@@ and go mak...

Toupee or not Toupee
With all the great special effects these days, why hasn't anyone CG'd a decent hairstyle on Cage. I mean, it can't cost that much to make the guy's hair look normal.

I'll tell you what I know. All the special effects in the world isn't going to keep the audiences eyes off Cage's hair piece! Bring it on!
