Behold the long, weird trailer for Francis Ford Coppola’s Twixt!

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

Ever since it made its much-talked about appearance at Comic-Con, we’ve been seeing a lot from Francis Ford Coppola’s horror tale TWIXT. The other day we nabbed some new stills from the flick, but today brings the big one: The first trailer for the trippy film. Said trailer comes from the Toronto International Film Festival‘s website, and as you’ll see, it’s not an official trailer; more like a promo for the film. (It runs over three minutes.) You get a nice taste of the off-kilter mood Coppola is going for; it looks darkly funny, weird, dreamlike and creepy. What more can you ask for?

A writer with a declining career arrives in a small town as part of his book tour and gets caught up in a murder mystery involving a young girl. That night in a dream, he is approached by a mysterious young ghost named V. He’s unsure of her connection to the murder in the town, but is grateful for the story being handed to him. Ultimately he is led to the truth of the story, surprised to find that the ending has more to do with his own life than he could ever have anticipated.

TWIXT stars Val Kilmer, Bruce Dern, Ben Chaplin, Tom Waits and Elle Fanning. Its debut to the world happens next month at the Toronto Film Festival.
