Both the remakes of Evil Dead and Carrie get synopsized

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

I want you to read that Stephen King blurb above to prepare yourselves, guys. Both the remakes of CARRIE and THE EVIL DEAD have received official studio synopses. I’d warn you to beware for spoilers but it’s not like we’re dealing with anything remotely surprising, original, or imaginative here. In fact, if you want to just read the text on the back of your CARRIE and EVIL DEAD DVD sleeves you’ll be getting the same effect.

First we disclose the previously hush-hush storyline of the Kimberly Peirce-directed CARRIE, starring Chloe Moretz, Julianne Moore, and Judy Greer:

“[CARRIE is] A reimagining of the classic horror tale about Carrie White (Chloë Grace Moretz), a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom.“

Next we get the logline to Fede Alvarez’s remake of Sam Raimi’s EVIL DEAD, starring Shiloh Fernandez, Jane Levy, and Lou Taylor Pucci:

“In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.”

Wow, that’s some great stuff, isn’t? It really sounds like they’re taking these remakes into fresh territory that all the fans will  appreciate and surely not get pissed off about. CARRIE’S big dance is March 15th of next year, while EVIL DEAD swallows your soul April 13th. Also, Judy Greer is a total fox, so let’s get a picture of her going below.
