Castlevania animated series coming to Netflix in 2017!

This news is too cool/funny/awesome. What feels like just the other day my brother and I were talking about the rumor of a CASTLEVANIA animated series coming out from the guys who made ADVENTURE TIME. The rumor went a little something like this:

On the Nick Animation Podcast, Frederator creator Fred Siebert said that he’s working on an unnamed project based on “one of the most world-famous video games of the last 30 years.”

It makes sense that’s what we were talking about. We work in animation, so we are well versed in ADVENTURE TIME’s Frederator Studios. That and he was literally playing CASTLEVANIA at the time. Go figure the topic came up.

Anyhow, it’s too cool to officially find out today that the rumor was not actually a rumor at all. During a press event today Netflix announced that “Castlevania” Season 1, Part 1 will be coming to Netflix in 2017!” Season 1, PART 1?? Interesting…

Here’s the Netflix’s synopsis:

Inspired by the classic video game series, “Castlevania” is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself. 

The animated series from Frederator Studios, will be written by Warren Ellis and executive produced by Warren Ellis and Adi Shankar. Nice. Netflix is really picking up the fan boy as of late. Now I only wish they would swoop in and take FRIDAY THE 13TH (and NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET) under their gigantic wing as well. Can you imagine a Netflix FRIDAY THE 13TH, or NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET series? The mind reels.
