Jun. 16, 2011by: Alex DiVincenzo

The classic horror/thriller THE BAD SEED will make its Blu-ray debut on October 11 via Warner Bros. Entertainment. Supplemental details have not yet been announced, but you can check out the cover art belwo. Unfortunately, it makes the movie look like modern direct-to-video junk, but it's the film that counts.

The 1956 film is directed by Mervyn LeRoy off a script by John Lee Mahin. It's based on the play by Maxwell Anderson, which itself is based on the novel by William March. Nancy Kelly, Patty McCormack, Henry Jones, Eileen Heckart and Evelyn Varden star. The picture was nominated for four Academy Awards.

Christine Penmark seems to have it all: a lovely home, a loving husband and the most "perfect" daughter in the world. But since childhood, Christine has suffered from the most terrible recurring nightmare. And her "perfect" daughter's accomplishments include lying, theft and possibly much, much worse. Only Christine knows the truth about her daughter and only Christine's father knows the truth about her nightmare.

Extra Tidbit: The film was remade for TV in 1985, and there have been talks of modern remake.
