Cool Horror Gear: Hammer Horror Figures

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

If you’re a horror fan chances are good that you know Hammer Horror. Hammer Films was a UK-based film production company best known for their Gothic horror films from the 1950’s through the 70’s that included DRACULA: PRINCE OF DARKNESS, FRANKENSTEIN MUST BE DESTROYED and THE MUMMY. At one time Hammer dominated the horror market, producing a ton of classic genre films as well as helping to solidify Christopher Lee as an icon within the world of horror.

An independent company called Distinctive Dummies has created a new series of custom-made collectible figures based on some of Hammer’s best known characters as part of a line dubbed “Mego Style,” with each figure made in the vein of 8-inch tall figures released by iconic toymaker Mego during the 1970’s and early ’80’s. The series is comprised of four releases: Christopher Lee as DRACULA, THE MUMMY and the Creature from 1957′s THE CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN, and Oliver Reed’s tortured lycanthrope from 1961′s THE CURSE OF THE WEREWOLF.  The figures – which are being produced in very small quantities of only 50 apiece – feature highly detailed head sculpts and fabric outfits and are being packaged on beautifully illustrated bubble cards.

The first two figures, DRACULA and THE MUMMY, became available for order this week at the price of $75 each (which includes worldwide shipping).
