David Fincher adapting British series Utopia for HBO

SEVEN and ZODIAC director David Fincher is set to adapt the British conspiracy thriller series "Utopia" for HBO according to THR who reports that Fincher will direct and executive produce alongside author Gillian Flynn, who will pen the script. Fincher and Flynn recently worked together on the adaptation of Flynn's novel GONE GIRL, which stars Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike and will release in October.

Like the British series, the adaptation of "Utopia" will revolve around a group of people who find themselves embroiled in conspiracy and danger after discovering the existence of a secret sequel to an iconic graphic novel.

Utopia will follow a group of people who find themselves in possession of a manuscript of a cult graphic novel. The tome is rumoured to have predicted the worst disasters of the last century and the group soon find themselves targeted by a shadowy organisation known only as The Network.

Sounds like an interesting premise and apparently the British version was pretty dark and violent so here's hoping Fincher and company can deliver something pretty twisted with their take on "Utopia".
