AMC's Fear the Walking Dead reached its season 3 finale this past Sunday, and it ended the season as a much stronger show than it has ever been before. I've had a lot of problems with Fear over the years, but season 3 was very strong and it seemed to get better overall as it went along. By the time that last episode came around, I was telling viewers who had stopped watching long ago that it had gotten good. It's a different show than the one they had given up on.

Season 3 had the following synopsis:

As Fear the Walking Dead returns for season three, our families will be brought together in the vibrant and violent ecotone of the U.S.-Mexico border.  International lines done away with following the world’s end, our characters must attempt to rebuild not only society, but family as well. Madison (Kim Dickens) has reconnected with Travis (Cliff Curtis), her apocalyptic partner, but Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) has been fractured by her murder of Andres. Madison's son mere miles from his mother, Nick’s (Frank Dillane) first action as a leader saw Luciana (Danay Garcia) ambushed by an American militia group — the couple escaped death, but Nick no longer feels immortal.  Recovering both emotionally and physically, Strand (Colman Domingo) has his sights set on harnessing the new world’s currency, and Ofelia's (Mercedes Mason) captivity will test her ability to survive and see if she can muster the savagery of her father.

To mark the ending of the season, a featurette has been released online in which executive producer Gale Anne Hurd, showrunner Dave Erickson, and members of the cast look back on the sixteen episodes that have just played out, discussing the characters, their storylines, and the losses they dealt with along the way.

Fear the Walking Dead will return to AMC for a fourth season sometime next year. In the meantime, its companion series The Walking Dead begins its eighth season this Sunday.
