Firestarter director Mark L. Lester unleashes Poseidon Rex in April

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Director Mark L. Lester was the man who brought us Stephen King's FIRESTARTER, the Arnold Schwarzenegger-hit COMMANDO, the cult classic CLASS OF 1984, and 1990's Dolph Lundgren and Brandon Lee-starring SHOWDOWN IN LITTLE TOKYO. It's been close to a decade since his last directorial effort (SyFy's 2005 film PTERODACTYL) but now Lester has returned with POSEIDON REX, which is set to hit limited theaters and iTunes on April 18.

Below you'll find the trailer for POSEIDON REX, which stars Brian Krause, Anne McDaniels, and Steven Helmkamp, and concerns…

A small, secluded island off the coast of Belize suddenly finds itself terrorized by a deadly predator from the planet’s distant past, when deep-sea divers accidentally awaken an ancient evil. Jackson Slate and his team of underwater cave explorers unearth much more than long-lost Mayan treasure while plumbing the depths of a world famous blue hole. They disturb a creature that’s been hibernating for over 60,000 years – a rampaging behemoth of death and destruction not only at sea but also on land.

After peeping this trailer I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around how this film is going theatrical in any shape, form or fashion, but hey…stranger things have happened. To be honest, I've seen better special effects from SyFy Channel original films and the storyline looks like something cooked up by The Asylum. But it's a Mark L. Lester flick, so I'll give it a shot.

Look for it on iTunes and in limited theaters on April 18.
