Monster movie fans rejoice! Media Blasters has secured the rights to GOZILLA VS. MAGALON and DESTROY ALL MONSTERS from Toho. The films will be released on DVD and Blu-ray in the future via Media Blasters' Tokyo Shock division. No details have been revealed yet, but the discs promise to have some "exciting extras."

'Zilla fans will be happy to hear this news. DESTROY ALL MONSTERS, a fan favorite, has been available on DVD before but with subpar quality. GODZILLA VS MEGALON, one of the weaker entries in the series, has never received an authorized DVD release in the U.S.

1968's DESTROY ALL MONSTERS is directed by Ishirô Honda, who co-wrote with Takeshi Kimura. Aliens have released all the giant monsters from their imprisonment on Monster Island and are using them to destroy all major cities on the planet. It is up to the daring crew of the super rocket ship X-2 to infiltrate the aliens' headquarters before the Earth monsters and King Ghidrah annihilate the planet.

1973's GODZILLA VS. MEGALON is written and directed by Jun Fukuda. The underground kingdom of Seatopia sends out Megalon, a giant beetle, and Gigan to destroy the above ground dwellers. In an attempt to stop them, an independently thinking robot brings Godzilla into the fight.

Megalon is wretched...even by 70s Godzilla standards. But Destroy All Monsters is cheesy kaiju perfection.

Also, anyone who has FEARnet...they've got a bunch of 90s-2000s Godzilla movies playing this month, and they're all on demand. Many of these weren't available in the US for the longest time due to censorship (Godzilla vs. Gidhora has a bit where G kills a bunch of American soldiers during WWII.) So I'm devouring these flicks like Doritos.

Special recommendation for Godzilla vs.

Special recommendation for Godzilla vs. Destroyah...the big guy has a nuclear meltdown and goes out in true-to-form asskicking style.
