Hitman director Xavier Gens prepares to turn the Lights Out

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

HITMAN and FRONTIERES director Xavier Gens is a busy man. Last week we wrote about THE CRUCIFIXION, the film he’s collaborating on with CONJURING writers Chad and Carey Hayes, and only a few days later he’s attached to yet another project. This one is called LIGHTS OUT, and it sounds like a home invasion thriller combining Salma Hayek’s upcoming EVERLY with the blind-woman-in-peril classic WAIT UNTIL DARK.

Here’s the synopsis:

Lights Out is about a young blind girl, living alone with her seeing-eye dog, who is forced to battle Russian gangsters who invade the secluded family mansion following her father’s suspicious death. Her only hope of survival is to cut the power in the house and use the fighting skills her father taught her.

Consider me intrigued. The script was penned by Lamont Magee and Jeff W. Byrd, and the film will be financed by Arclight’s Asian arm, Easternlight Films, and China’s Huace Pictures. Producers are reportedly looking for a young Chinese actress to play the blind girl.
