After spending nearly 25 years providing visual effects for films like DONNIE DARKO, GHOSTS OF MARS, FIGHT CLUB, and THE MATRIX, Ken Locsmandi has made his feature directorial debut with the sci-fi creature feature BEYOND WHITE SPACE, which was previously known as simply WHITE SPACE – until the filmmakers realized it goes beyond all that – and has just secured a North American distribution deal from Vertical Entertainment.

Vertical is planning to give the film a theatrical release later this year.

Written by Ryan Colucci and Clay McLeod Chapman, BEYOND WHITE SPACE tells a story set in

2150 A.D. During its final harvest of the season, a deep-space fishing vessel encounters a rare creature, mammoth in size and highly territorial. Matters get worse when a vicious band of scavengers intercept the vessel, leaving them with nothing. With no cargo and few supplies, the crew makes the daring decision to venture into uncharted territory and attempt to capture the creature for a large black-market take.

The film stars Dave Sheridan of THE DEVIL'S REJECTS and VICTOR CROWLEY, Zulay Henao of the sequels S. DARKO and HOSTEL: PART III, General Hospital's Kodi Kitchen, Tiffany Brouwer of the recent Bruce Willis film ACTS OF VIOLENCE, and Holt McCallany – who you may know as Sam Whitemoon from CREEPSHOW 2, Bill Tench from Mindhunter, or even The Mechanic from FIGHT CLUB, among 75+ other credits.

Vertical's co-president Rich Goldberg has called BEYOND WHITE SPACE "a sprawling, visually stunning film". It sounds interesting to me, I look forward to learning more about it.
